The SUPERHERO Piece
This duo for two performers creates an honest and absurde dialogue about gender stereotypes in Hollywood movies. Who made super heroes? Is being caucasian, male, athletic, under 40 and looking like a ‘Men’s Health’ cover a condition for being an ethical role-model?
This highly physical, non-verbal performance reduces set design to the absolute minimum to transform the stage in a big screen where special effects, movie sounds and lights create a dramaturgy of visual contrasts.
The show shifts permanently between everyday life and epic movie scenes, between real and virtual realities, between people removing tiny hairs in unthinkable body places, and oversized aliens attacking the planet.
With an array of pop-culture quotes ranging from Quentin Tarantino, to Freddy Mercury and Japanese Mangas, ‘The SUPERHERO piece’ is an attempt to rethink the absurdity of normalized film standards.
